As we noted in a previous post, ESSL is a symbol library for SCADA and HMI software implementations. But the distinctive fact is that this Library is entirely focused in the electric market. More specifically, in the High Voltage and Medium Voltage electric market. Why?
Our team have years of experience implementing SCADA and HMI systems for electrical utilities, like generator, distributor and transmission companies that are integrated in every electric market. All these companies, even smaller ones, have a Supervisory system that monitor all the variables and the statuses of electrical equipment, particularly in High Voltage or Medium Voltage facilities.
This Supervisory systems are developed by specialized companies, from small ones to giants like ABB, Siemens, Schneider, Alsthom among others, that have a lot of experience (decades) in this particular software development market. In the past years, technology evolved through new standards, like IEC 61850, UCA and others, reinforcing the robustness of control software and manufacturing rock solid products.
But small advance has taken place in the way that information is presented to operators, engineers and decision making personnel. Only a small group of these systems have a good looking appearence, and even the top systems have a poor screen generator modules. In general, almost all High Voltage and Medium Voltage (HV/MV) Supervisory and Data Adquisition software lacks of a good symbols library capable of showing to operators a set of well designed screens, nice looking diagrams, and many options for each symbol.
Is for this reason that we decided develop this product: a complete set of symbols that can be used to design a good-looking diagram or a nice one-line screen that make possible to show a good presentation to all people involved in operations, controls and other SCADA related tasks.
